The Oath Keepers – “Not on my watch”

Part 1 – Introduction

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”

The solemn duty of sacrifice is my very life – if need be – surrendered freely in defense of my country and constitution. Not a political party, not a world order, not an anti-American president, and certainly not the gathering forces of a tyrannical government hell bent on the imposition of a destructive ideology. It sickens my very soul that the domestic threats to my liberty are now far more dangerous than the foreign aggressors we have either apathetically allowed or abetted under the current administration.

I find some solace in the “Oath Keepers.” (www.oathkeepers.org) a non-profit, non-partisan, organization established formally in 2009 – Oath Keepers have declared that military and law enforcement personnel will uphold their oath to the constitution, rather than any governmental effort to decimate our God-given, constitutionally guaranteed liberties. They formally affirm:

1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.

2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people

3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.

4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.

5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.

6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.

7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control.”

9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.

10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

How prophetic these affirmations are, considering the current state of affairs…to be addressed in future posts. This is NOT ENOUGH though! We must not wait for such drastic measures to come to fruition; we must fight them daily as viciously as if our life depends on upon it, because it does. We must enjoin together in the defense of our constitution, in all matters great and small – be it proposed gun legislation, UN entreaties, excessive taxation, political corruptness…. If I am willing to die for my country, can I not do something daily to protect it for my children and grandchildren? The slow creep of totalitarianism is occurring even as I type. Would we knowingly allow our enemy to set up a future ambush for us, or a thuggish gang to set up shop in our neighborhood? Would we allow a naval force to lay mines for us, or a foe to dig trenches in preparation for their assault?

I am not a dues-paying member of the official Oath Keepers. I cannot financially support every cause. But as a veteran and a citizen, I can spread the word. I can expose the lies and falsehoods of our government and media. I can exert influence over my representatives. I can thank the ones who stand for liberty, and vehemently voice displeasure with those who don’t. I can contact my own local county, city, and state governments and demand that they uphold the oath they took. There are so many things we can, and must do against the enemies of freedom…  We “fix” bayonets to prepare for a bloody battle, (and yes President Obama, we still have bayonets in the military.)  Steel yourselves in such a manner to fight for the very future of our beloved country.

Most recently, it has been heartening to watch the many county sheriffs, city police chiefs and officers, constables, soldiers, airmen, marines and squids, veterans, state legislatures, and so many other civic entities rise up against the recent affronts to our Second Amendment rights.

From the Albany Democrat Herald and posted mere moments ago, even more sheriffs are speaking out: “This letter serves two purposes,” Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin wrote in a letter to Vice President Joe Biden. “First, to make a formal request that you not tamper with or attempt to amend the 2nd Amendment. Gun control is not the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings. Any actions against, or in disregard of our U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights by the current administration would be irresponsible and an indisputable insult to the American people.”

The second purpose was to inform Biden, “I will not violate my Constitutional oath. …. Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the Constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Douglas County, Oregon.”

There is currently a list of 127 confirmed sheriffs who have courageously declared to uphold their oaths against any attempt on the 2nd Amendment. http://www.examiner.com/article/127-sheriffs-won-t-enforce-obama-gun-laws-specter-of-door-to-door-gun-search

Is your sheriff listed?  When you find such patriots, whether you are from their state or not, take the time to support and encourage them as if they were your brother-in-arms, because they are.
